This brand new book uses a
series of case studies (drawn from the UK and abroad, public and private
sectors) to examine pay-related issues. During his consultancy activities, the
author has taken a particular interest in job evaluation, and when the Equal
Value amendment to the Equal Pay Act was introduced in the mid 1980s, he
developed a computer-assisted job evaluation system designed to identify
instances of unequal pay.
Clients' views as to how the case
studies helped them, and how their pay practices have developed up to the
present day, bring an interesting perspective to this book. In essence, the
book is a DIY guide for the HR professional or anyone else interested in
developing approaches to market-related pay which work.
