"I confirm
that the Malawi Government engaged the Bryher Partnership
Consultants on the Job Grading and Salary Restructuring Project for
the Malawi Civil Service from 21 January 1999 to 31 May 1999.
The Bryher
Partnership Consultants satisfied the Terms of Reference of the
project by producing a new job grade and salary structure for the
Malawi Civil Service. The Consultants also met the project
milestones as scheduled, with specific reference to the submission
of the Inception, Interim, Draft Final and Final Reports which the
Malawi Government has since approved.
The
Consultants are also commended for the good work they performed
during a two-day workshop for the Principal Secretaries held on 21
and 22 May 1999, which was opened by Hon Mrs E E Chitalo MP, the
then Minister of State responsible for the Department of Human
Resource Management and Development. During this workshop the
Consultants presented the Draft Final Report which was debated upon
by the Policy-makers.
I would not
hesitate to recommend the Consultants for any consultancy work in
relation to Job Evaluation". P V Kachimera, Secretary for Human
Resource Management and Development, 22nd November 1999.

‘Rob Kenwrick was contracted as a
Project Leader with the Vojvodjanska Banka in the FR of Yugoslavia
between 10 May and 31 July 1998 - introducing Expert Job Evaluation
technology. He led the team, evaluating approximately 250 jobs and
developing a cost-effective graded salary structure - a foundation
for the introduction of a performance culture and
performance-related pay’. Alan P Beauregard, Deloitte & Touche,
Bratislava, Slovak Republic, 19 November 1998
‘......coped
very well with this difficult situation and adopted a hands off but
supportive style, which was the best way forward. Job evaluation is
not an easy task, often poorly received and generally not well
understood. Therefore, I believe that Mr Kenwrick performed very
well under trying conditions, and was at all times professional,
knowledgeable and flexible in his approach. He was persistent in
his communications/feedback and understanding of the level of
support that we required of him’. Delphine Woolley, Group Human
Resources Manager, ML Integration Ltd., 4 November 1998
The EOC's
consultation on a new Sex Equality Law....
‘ ..may I say
how grateful we are for your contribution. We received more than
200 thoughtful and often very detailed responses to our proposals.
Overall, there has been overwhelming support for a new Sex Equality
law to protect equality between women and men as a basic human
right’. Kate Wood, Equal Opportunities Commission 15 July 1998.
‘I know that
Alan has thoroughly enjoyed working with you and we all appreciate
the efforts you have made on behalf of our Client. We look forward
to the opportunity of working with you in the future where your
particular expertise can be used’. Peter Szabadhegy, Deloitte &
Touche 10 August 1998
‘Rob
Kenwrick is an internationally respected human resources management
professional. We propose that he takes responsibility for providing
technical leadership and advice in the execution of this
assignment. He will lead our team and ensure that the technical
solutions recommended and offered to the Government of Tanzania
fully meet the assignment's objectives within the envisaged
timeframe.
He recently
was part of a Leadership Development Consulting Team that is
undertaking a World Bank financed consultancy assignment to provide
a job evaluation system and pay and grading structure for the Malawi
Civil Service. On this assignment he was specifically responsible
for the design and introduction of a computer assisted job
evaluation system’. Jayne M Booker, Deloitte & Touche 12 September
1997.
‘Rob Kenwrick
has undertaken work for both Tarmac Building Materials Ltd and
Tarmac Quarry Products Ltd. His work on these projects using a
computer based job evaluation system has at all times been
professional and I have no hesitation in recommending him for work
of a similar kind’. T W J Pritchard, Human Resources Manager,
Tarmac Quarry Products Ltd. 23 December 1996.
‘....The job
evaluation exercise took advantage of Bryher Consultants own
software system, EVALUATOR+ and this product produced clear
and concise data for both evaluation and salary modelling
purposes’. Martyn Hurd, Director of Human Resources, ITN. 20
December 1996.
‘...ITN
commissioned Bryher Consultants & Associates and under guidance from
Rob Kenwrick we established a 12 person evaluation team comprising
equal numbers of representatives from unions, staff and management.
Following initial training the team then evaluated the job
profiles.... according to an agreed factor plan. The results were
entered into EVALUATOR+ and in due course the panel reached
consensus on a new ranking order which identified and rationalised
all non-management posts within the Company.
'The EVALUATOR+ system is logical and works well, meeting all our
objectives. Rob Kenwrick's patient, friendly and neutral approach
did much to achieve a sense of harmony and agreement within the
evaluation team'. Dave Randles, ITN Branch Steward, Broadcasting
Entertainment Cinematograph & Theatre Union, 28 September 1996.
‘The Job
Evaluation process is in its final stages and should be completed by
the end of September. The Job Evaluation team, comprising
managers, union and non-union staff representatives, has done a
tremendous job... I would like to take this opportunity to express
my appreciation for your effort and assistance during the process...
many thanks for your contribution to the Job Evaluation project’.
Stewart Purvis, Chief Executive ITN, 14 August 1996.
‘I am pleased
to confirm that in 1990 P-E Inbucon (as it then was) satisfactorily
completed a project to introduce Job Evaluation into the Council.
The project staff were primarily Rob Kenwrick and Gail Brown’.Ian B
Mackintosh, Acting Head of Paid Service, New Forest District
Council, 19 July 1996.
‘We have
always found your work very helpful and satisfactory’. John Moir

research which you did for us and the suggestions which you made for
the preparations for communicating with staff....was useful as was
the feedback and analysis of results’. Vivien Bapat Director of
Human Resources East Berkshire Community Health NHS Trust 23 May
1996.
‘By using a
structured approach to the analysis of staff perceptions of their
performance Rob has provided us with very useful data. This has
validated the observations and opinions of managers. It will
provide a solid foundation upon which our training priorities for
existing and future services can be based’. Mary Crawford Director
of Clinical Support Services Broadmoor Hospital 1 February 1996.
‘I can
confirm that Rob has carried out consultancy work for Fresenius
covering the job evaluation of 40 management/sales and marketing
positions to our entire satisfaction. At all times the work carried
out was of an exceptional standard and conducted in a thoroughly
professional manner’. Katharine Skelland Personnel Manager
Fresenius Limited 27 October 1995.
‘Rob has
carried out consultancy work professionally and to our complete
satisfaction’. Robert Dunn Personnel Manager Don & Low Ltd 18

Mr Robert J Kenwrick on two major projects involving salary
restructuring and in both cases found his understanding,
ability and personality to be of the highest order’. John
Stallworthy Personnel and Training Manager Charles Wells Limited 4
August 1993.
‘I must admit
to some pleasant surprise at the way it has gone. The Members have
been very supportive and impressed and have recorded their thanks to
all involved in the exercise. I feel that we now have a firm
base on which to move forward to appraisal and performance related
pay in due course’. Roger H Lees Head of Central Services
South Norfolk District Council 19 October 1988.
‘Clearly this
is a very satisfactory outcome to the exercise and I am extremely
grateful to you and your colleagues for the care you have taken...and
the way in which you have assisted in making it acceptable to
Members by your very persuasive presentations’. Rodney J
Stone Chief Executive Tunbridge Wells Borough Council 31 December
1987
‘...we are
going to get the job at Mid Suffolk...as Rob Kenwrick was scheduled
to do the job with them as they had such a good recommendation
from Swale about his work there’. Bill Paxton Marketing Director
Inbucon 19 November 1987.
‘...I would
like you to know that of all the reports this Council has received
from a variety of Management Consultants the one from you
impressed us most of all. It was readable, clear, concise
and without the use of the jargon which one has, regrettably, come
to associate with so many reports from Management Consultants’.
Harry White CBE DFC AFC Chief Executive Swale Borough Council 19
August 1987.
‘I want to
thank you very much on two counts - firstly, for all your
effort you have put in and the professional way in which you
have helped us in going through the assessments.....Your patience
and understanding has been much appreciated....Secondly, your
presentation at the two seminars...was also most
helpful....’ Michael J Harris General Manager - Corporate Affairs
Coopers Animal Health Ltd. 1 April 1987.
‘Thank you
for all your efforts in developing our work in the Public
Sector’. Richard Alston Managing Director Inbucon Human
Resources.
'I was associated with Mr Kenwrick for some four years at Alcoa (GB) Ltd. During that time I had
personal experience of his ability in Trade Union negotiations, job evaluation, training, committee participation and
salary administration. In all these fields I found him to be exceptionally able, but in salary administration and job
evaluation especially outstanding. I am extremely interested, for instance, in the financial methods for the rewarding
of employees that he originated'. Tony Hammond, Personnel Manager, Vickers Limited, 15 September 1981.
'I believe I would be remiss if I did not drop you a short note telling you how much I appreciate your attitude,
hard work and promptness in working with us through our several senior compensation schemes here at Swansea. The fact that
you are understanding yet critical where necessary and above all, prompt, has enabled us to keep to a reasonable time schedule'.
Joe T Hobbs Jnr Managing Director, Alcoa Manufacturing (GB) Ltd., 8 February 1979.
'I would like you to know how much I have appreciated your efforts at AMGB Swansea while standing in for
the Personnel Manager. The Managing Director, Paul Griswold, has also told me that he has been impressed by the work
which you did there in what has always been a demanding job'.
H R Ackland, Group Personnel Director, Alcoa of Great Britain Ltd., 16 March 1978.
